  • Neuroleptics – These were originally used to treat depression and related disorders. They may also help to relieve headache pain or nausea and vomiting that can occur during a migraine headache. These include metoclopramide (Reglan), haloperidol (Haldol) and droperidol (Inapsine). Other neuroleptics include chlorpromazine (Thorazine), prochlorperazine (Compazine), perphenazine (Trilafon), promethezine (Phenergan), trimethobenzamide (Tigan) and olanzapine (Zyprexa). 
  • Magnesium sulfate – Magnesium deficiency is a condition in which you do not have enough magnesium in your body. Some medical experts think that magnesium deficiency my trigger migraines in certain people. Women with menstrual-related migraines (headaches that occur around a monthly menstrual period) may be more prone to having this problem.
